The function started with a minute of silence for introspection.

It was followed by recital of bhajan "Vaishanavo Jan to" by Ms. Meera Venkatesh, Director at the IAEA.

Ambassador Swaminathan welcomed the guests and spoke on the International Day of Non-Violence. DG, UNIDO Mr. Li Yong also addressed the gathering on the occassion.

Alokesh Chandra, disciple of Pandit Ravi Shankar ji accompanied by Mr.Ashis Paul (Tabla) performed raga "Mohankauns", the raga that was created by Pandit Ravi Shankar ji in 1948 to pay tribute to Mahatma Gandhi.

Prizes were distributed to the winners of the art competition 'Mahatma Gandhi and Non-Violence' and the essay competition 'Relevance of Mahatma Gandhi and his Thoughts in Modern Time' held at the Vienna International School, in the preceding week.

The exhibition 'A Brief Biography of Mahatma Gandhi 1869-1948)’ was inaugurated by DG, UNIDO, DDG IAEA, Executive Director UNODC and Ambassador.

The event concluded with refreshments.

The function was compered by Third Secretary Pawankumar Badhe.
